We, delegates and participants of Science Council of Asia Management Board Meeting, General Assembly and International Symposium, have affirmed with one voice, it is time to work together to save our nations. We are convinced that green economy in the context of sustainable development and poverty eradication should contribute to meet key goals based on the Rio+20 principles.

We certainly need more improvements in both concepts and ideas. Regional institutions should also function effectively as a platform for consolidating the voice of developing countries on relevant issues.

We have to follow up how Sustainable Development Goals can be effectively implemented. We find that we must shift the orientation of the global society from a ”greed economy” into a “green economy“.

Recalling the recognition on the importance of science, and realise the need to mobilize science towards green economy, the participants of this conference put forward the following declaration:

  1. The SCA initiatives should work closely together towards sustainable development.
  2. We should recognize the contribution of natural resources and set the principles and policies for global, regional, and national actions to support sustainable development.
  3. Promotion and implementation of green economy need to be based on equitable access to resources, property rights and inclusive growth.
  4. Working and promoting on sustainable development is part of our responsibility as scientists, because scientists always think what science can do for the people’s life and happiness.
  5. To secure this objective, we are fully aware that we work with our stakeholders such as governments, businesses and communities.
  6. We need to ensure our policy makers obtain our best knowledge in supporting green economy for our future.
