The National Academy of Sciences of Sri Lanka (NASSL), Sri Lanka together with the International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (ICGEB) is organizing the South Asian Biotechnology Conference (SABC 2018) in Colombo Sri Lanka during March 28-30, 2018 on the theme “Biotechnology: Role in Regional Development”.
The conference will provide a forum to promote cooperation, coordination and collaboration amongst SAARC countries in achieving the broad aims of the theme. SABC 2018 will focus on the development of biotechnology-based products, both for the market and for the public good in the agriculture, health, environment and industry sectors and disseminate successful best practices in the SAARC region

It will bring together these focus groups to share research and industrial experiences, academic achievements and information related to the theme and promote cooperation, coordination and collaboration amongst SAARC countries in biotechnology, thereby contributing to economic development in the countries of the region.

Among the topics of the Conference are Genomics, Synthetic Biology, Bioethics, Biotechnology Policy and IPR, Big Data and Industry.
